Jury split on Hobart murder sentencing

SANTA ROSA CO., Fla. -- A jury is split on their decision on whether or not a Milton man convicted of murdering two people should be sentenced to death.

The Santa Rosa County jury announced Wednesday that they believed Robert Hobart should receive life in prison for the September 2010 death of Robert Hamm, but that he should receive the death sentence for the death of Tracie Tolbert.

Hobart was found guilty last week of shooting the pair to death in September 2010. Their bodies were found on the side of a secluded road in Allentown. Hobart was arrested on unrelated drug charges two weeks after the murders.

The judge will make the final decision at a sentencing hearing at a later date.
